The Deltaville Maritime Museum & Holly Point Nature Park is anticipating an exciting 2010 season for Middlesex County residents and visitors alike. Enclosed is our activities brochure that outlines events for the year. Working Watermen's Weekend begins Friday evening, April 31st, with our Members' Gala honoring watermen. Saturday, May 1, is the official Opening Day for the Museum and Park at which Jack Travelstead from VMRC Fisheries and author, Larry Chowning, will speak. There will be displays of Chesapeake Bay workboats, creek cruises, aquaculture and maritime displays, a nautical flea market, a Farmers' Market and also Billz Bistro will be open. Proceeds from the weekend's events benefit the F. D. Crockett restoration project.

The Farmers' Market is scheduled in the Park on the fourth Saturday of each month, May through September, beginning May 22 from 9-1. In the evenings of the same days, our popular casual concert series for members and guests, "Groovin' in the Park", will delight you with a wonderful mix of performers.

Our capital improvement projects are well underway with the Johns' Pavilion extension almost doubling its size, the new Lighthouse Entranceway nearing completion, and the Wildflower Pavilion construction to begin this spring.

Some interesting facts about the Museum and Park: Over 20,000 members and guests visited in 2009. On average it takes one volunteer hour to serve each visitor. This is a high bar for us to reach both in volunteers and funding especially during this ongoing economic crisis. The projects and events held at the Museum and Park have become part of the fabric of our community, and I hope you will help us as a volunteer or through a monetary contribution, or both.

Please join us in our exciting activities for the 2010 season, and thank you for your continued support!

Sincerely,
Bob Kates
